My current work in this area involves:
Building South County Homeschool Resource Center in Rhode Island, U.S.A.
Facilitating the self directed learning of my six year old daughter (full time), as well as my two teenage step sons (part time).
Furthering my knowledge in this area with professional development.

My past experience and work in this area includes:
Completion of a B.A. (summa cum laude) at alternative Marlboro College, where the first two years were spent on liberal arts and the last two on a project of your own design. At Marlboro, students, faculty, and staff made decisions together in weekly Town Meetings, and there was an elected community court.
Two years filming at the Teddy McArdle Free School, a democratic free school in New Jersey, U.S.A. where classes were voluntary and rules determined by all-school vote.
One year traveling with my film APPROACHING THE ELEPHANT, during which time I was able to visit self directed learning schools and junk playgrounds all over the world.
Co-founding and co-directing a choice-based summer camp, Alamander Summer Camp, in Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.
Volunteering at The Yard, a junk playground in New York City.
